Fighters prepare for battle

Two members from the Chikara Dojoof Kyokushin Karate in Spennymoor have been given the opportunity to compete in a full contact world tournament in Japan in August. They have both been training extremely hard for this once in a lifetime chance. Damon Gallone, 14 and Craig Mayhew, 17 both of Spennymoor were selected in January to represent Great Britain in this prestigious event. Craig commented “I am so pleased that I was selected to represent my club, town and country in this competition in Japan. I will try my best to make everyone proud, I train very hard and it is great that my dedication and hard work is paying off”. When asked how he felt about having the chance to travel to the other side of the world to compete, Damon said “ Since I began Karate 5 years ago I have always wanted to go to Japan to fight, this is a dream come true for me, I love training at our club and I hope to bring us back another title”. Both Craig and Damon are working very hard to raise funds for this event and members of the club are busy organising various sponsored activities to help meet the financial targets necessary for the trip.
