Alec Stepney speaks at Football League presenation evening

The Spennymoor Sunday Morning Football League held its Annual Presentation Night for the 2008/2009 season in Spennymoor Town Hall on Friday 12th June. The guest speaker at the event, which included a pie ‘n’ pea supper, was Manchester United’s European Cup winning goal keeper Alec Stepney. Alec told the audience a little bit about his playing career and his current involvement with Manchester Utd Football Club' conducted a brief question and answer session, then presented trophies to representatives from the winning teams along with individual winners. The night’s entertainment was concluded by local comedian Seth Shildon. The League committee wishes to pass on their thanks to Graham Sheldon for his help in organizing the event, and long serving Secretary Mick Hill who has now stood down from his position, and wishes all teams good luck for the forthcoming season, which is scheduled to start on Sunday 16th August.
